It’s utilised by many businesses as an effective way of moving large, heavy and multiple items safely.

This method reduces handling, speeds up distribution and lowers the risk of product damage. In this helpful guide, we’ll explain how pallet delivery works, covering everything from load sizes to distribution networks, and highlighting the key benefits it offers to businesses.

What is a Pallet?

Starting with the basics, a pallet is a flat (and often square) standard structure onto which companies will place their goods. Numerous sizes are in circulation, but the 1200 x 1000 x 150mm is considered by most to be the standard UK size. The Euro standard is 1200 x 800 a 150mm.

Around 55million timber pallet units are produced each year in the UK. This demonstrates how pallets are not just helpful but an absolute necessity for shipping. Pallets are often used in warehouses to make the movement and storage of individual items easier and more straightforward. They are also handy when transporting goods around the country, in Europe or around the world.

What is Pallet Delivery?

What is pallet delivery? In simple terms, the meaning of pallet delivery is exactly what it says on the tin. Specialist companies with lots of expertise will regularly collect and distribute pallets from business owners all around the country. At LTS, we offer a comprehensive range of logistics-related pallet services, from full and part load distribution through to palletised consignments.

Our team will always keep goods safe too, and we use secure transport tracking technology to ensure we know exactly where each vehicle is located in real time. As part of our service, we can provide same-day deliveries from a single pallet to a full load. Our team works hard to guarantee total customer satisfaction for each and every consignment, regardless of the challenges.

So, in a nutshell, pallet delivery is the process of moving goods from one place to another, on a pallet. Pallet shipping has become the most common form of distribution in the world.

How Does Pallet Delivery Work: A Step-by-Step Process

1. The process begins by contacting a pallet transport specialist and alerting them to a pallet collection and delivery that needs picking up. This can be done through telephone, email or via a specialist online portal. Depending on volume, some customers will have a daily scheduled collection.

2. The pallet shipping specialists will then collect the order at the time, place or date required by the client. Some firms will charge more for collections in the evening or at weekends. Therefore, it’s sensible to check rates before placing an order.

3. The pallets then go to a distribution warehouse, where in most instances, they are consolidated into routes for the delivery drivers. Warehouse staff will then use forklift trucks to load the pallets onto trucks carefully. Just like LTS, the distribution vehicles will then leave the warehouse on schedule to ensure all pallets reach their destinations on time.

4. Many pallet delivery firms will offer a tracking service to their clients. That often comes in the form of a web link people can click to check on the progress of their order.

5. Most specialists aim to make deliveries within 24 or 48 hours, depending on the requirements of their clients and the service level paid for. However, it can take longer to ship pallets abroad, especially if ocean, air and rail transport become part of the equation.

Shipping Large Items: Pallet Delivery & Load Size Explained

If you need to send heavy or unusually bulky items, pallet delivery is an excellent option. It’s ideal for awkward items such as car parts, furniture and heavy machinery. Pallets keep items of all sizes safe and secure.

It’s essential to know your load size to help you pick the right pallet and save on expenses. Load size options include a full pallet (up to 2.2m tall), a light pallet (same size as a full pallet but with a lower weight limit) and a quarter pallet (under 60cm high and 150kg, designed for smaller loads).

Sure! Using a pallet courier is simplicity itself, from the moment the business owner calls a specialist or books a pallet collection online. Below, there is a straightforward guide that explains everything in detail. This should help to dispel any myths and eliminate misconceptions.

How Much Does Pallet Delivery Cost?

The cost of pallet delivery depends on several factors, including the size of the pallet, the weight of the load and the delivery distance. A full pallet travelling overseas will cost more than a small quarter pallet being sent locally. Other factors that affect price include whether you choose standard, next-day or timed delivery and if the shipment is going abroad, customs and international freight charges will also apply.

Types of Pallet Delivery

There are two main types of pallets used for delivery, such as stringer and block pallets. Stringer pallets are best for heavy loads as they have long boards to help with weight distribution. Block pallets are designed for lighter loads and use solid wooden blocks at the base to provide a sturdy base during transport.

Pallet Distribution Networks

As most people will understand, it’s difficult for a company with one base to make 24-hour pallet deliveries all over the country. The firm would need hundreds of trucks and drivers. So, it’s not realistic for pallet delivery companies to make promises about fast deliveries without working with others. Relatively cheap pallet delivery is only possible with the network setup.

A pallet distribution network often comprises of many companies working closely together. They do this to provide efficient, cost-effective and comprehensive solutions to their customers. Each group, company or facility will have designated postcode areas to which they deliver and collect goods. If a customer from another part of the country needs to ship pallets to those locations, the orders will get passed to that particular team.

Transport Hubs Located In Strategic Points Around The Country

In most instances, pallet transport experts will open hubs in the main cities around the country to facilitate shipping. Let’s take a look at an example:

John owns a children’s toy company, and he needs to deliver a pallet of goods to a client in London. John’s firm is based in Liverpool, and so it’s a long distance to travel. He calls the pallet courier from Liverpool, and they come and collect the items before heading back to base. Delivering the pallet from that location is less than convenient. However, luckily, the carrier has a hub in Birmingham which is halfway to the destination. So, the experts send the pallet to Birmingham first. Delivery drivers from that location then take the item to its endpoint and keep to their schedule. You get the idea, right?

Hub and Spoke Distribution

In the industry, pallet shipping firms refer to that method as the Hub and Spoke system for obvious reasons. Time and time again, companies have proved that this strategy reduces the number of vehicles required and increases the average load per truck.

Results in More Reliable 24 hour Delivery

Pallet delivery services that use this system become far more reliable when offering 24-hour shipping. The method is also used by other transportation companies focusing on smaller items around the country.

In most instances, pallet distribution networks are run by a single brand. For example, here at LTS, we are part of the TPN network. The main hubs are operated by a central firm, while logistics companies like LTS both deliver to and collect from these hubs. If you plan to use a pallet distribution network long-term, take the time to research how individual systems work.

The Pallet Network Hub

Pallet Distribution Networks and How They Operate

Do I Need to use a Pallet Distribution Network?

That is something individual business owners have to answer for themselves. If they understand all the ins and outs, the solution should become apparent. In most situations, pallet deliveries are particularly suitable for:

  • 1-5 pallet consignments
  • Heavy goods
  • Regular quantities
  • Fragile goods
  • Anything that requires fast and economical shipping

However, lots of firms choose to send all manner of items on pallets these days. So, there are few limits when it comes to the type of products.

Even Entrepreneurs use a Pallet Courier

Most entrepreneurs and their associates opt for a pallet distribution network when they start to accept a considerable number of orders for the same product. Sending all those items separately would cost a small fortune. In that situation, pallet couriers often become the company’s best friend.

Benefits of Using Pallet Delivery

For businesses, pallet delivery provides several key advantages. It’s a secure, reliable and cost-effective way of shipping goods. Securing items on a pallet makes large loads easier to handle, reducing the risk of damage in transit. There’s also the benefit of faster delivery as pallets can be transported through a hub and spoke distribution network. Pallet delivery is also scalable, meaning businesses can send anything from a single pallet to full loads while still enjoying the same reliability and cost-efficiency. Pallets can also be tracked to provide businesses and consumers alike with peace of mind in being able to see the location of their pallets.

Preparing Goods for Pallet Delivery

The process of preparing items for pallet delivery is essential to keep them safe during transport. Goods should be stacked evenly on a pallet with heavier products at the bottom and lighter ones on top just like you would when you visit the supermarket. Shrink wrap, straps or banding to hold everything tightly in place, preventing movement in transit. For fragile or valuable goods, add extra protection such as corner boards, bubble wrap or pallet covers.

Package vs Pallet Delivery

When deciding between the two, consider the weight and volume of your goods, how quickly they need to arrive, and the overall shipping cost. For small, lightweight items, package delivery is often the simplest option. For bulkier or multiple items, pallet delivery provides greater protection, efficiency and value.

ELLA LEADS TEAM OF LTS VOLUNTEERS TO CONQUER SNOWDON https://www.ltsglobalsolutions.com/blog/ella-leads-team-of-lts-volunteers-to-conquer-snowdon/ Wed, 27 Aug 2025 07:39:13 +0000 https://www.ltsglobalsolutions.com/?p=10356 TO RAISE FUNDS FOR SCHOOLCHILDREN WITH DOWN SYNDROME

Intrepid Ella Hands is set to lead a team of volunteers to the top of Snowdon later this month to raise funds to help students with Down syndrome.

The plucky 10-year-old, who was born with the genetic condition, will join friends from Coleshill-based logistics, transport and shipping specialist LTS Global Solutions to raise funds to help secondary school pupils with Down syndrome in the classroom.

Accompanied by parents Dave and Rachel Hands – who are the Managing Director and Head of HR and Communications at LTS Global Solutions – the family will be among a 15-strong team taking part in the challenge.

All funds raised will be put towards a fundraising campaign spearheaded by Dave and Rachel to help secondary school children with Down syndrome to receive the best possible education for a bright and successful future.

So far the Snowdon team members have raised over £1100 in pledges, every penny of which will be put towards the £40,000 appeal which will fund the development of a Secondary Education Programme to give schools all the resources and expertise needed to help students with Down syndrome thrive in the classroom.

Dave said: “Ella has absolutely thrived throughout her primary school years, and we were looking forward to replicating her success in the classroom in secondary school.

“But we met with a number of schools, none of which had the same level of experience or expertise in helping children with Down syndrome to perform at their very best.

“So we are working closely with national parent-led charity Down Syndrome UK to ensure that every secondary school pupil in the country is given the very best start and allowed the same opportunities as their counterparts in the classroom by equipping all schools with training, resources and ongoing support in subjects such as numeracy, literacy, communication and social interaction, to ensure all teaching staff are equipped with the right skills to work with children with Down syndrome in their care.”

The programme is being devised by Becky Baxter, a speech and language therapist with almost two decades of experience in working with children with Down syndrome. A similar programme devised by Becky for early years and primary teaching and support staff on behalf of Down Syndrome UK has been a huge success.

Altogether Dave and Rachel Hands are hoping their various fundraising efforts over the coming months will raise the £40,000 needed to get the programme off the ground. Launched just four months ago their fundraising appeal has so far raised £17,000.

The Snowdon climb will take place on August 30th.

BRCGS AA GRADE ACCREDITED LTS GLOBAL SOLUTIONS EXPANDS LOGISTICS OFFERING TO FOOD INGREDIENT AND AMBIENT FOOD SECTORS https://www.ltsglobalsolutions.com/blog/brcgs-aa-grade-logistics-food-ingredient-ambient-food-sectors/ Thu, 24 Jul 2025 07:46:19 +0000 https://www.ltsglobalsolutions.com/?p=10068 Identifying untapped potential in the food ingredient supply chain, LTS Global Solutions is expanding its operation into this fast-growing sector after securing BRCGS AA Grade accreditation for the first time at the end of last year.

LTS Global Solutions, a leading provider of logistics, warehousing, and freight services, now offers food manufacturers, processors, and ingredient importers a fully scalable and compliant logistics solution tailored to the unique demands of the sector.

“Securing the BRCGS AA Grade enables us to tangibly demonstrate our commitment to the highest standards in food safety, handling, distribution, and storage,” said Dave Hands, Managing Director at LTS Global Solutions. “For ingredient suppliers and ambient food businesses alike, this gives confidence that we have the infrastructure and compliance systems to support their needs reliably and at scale.”

Through detailed market research, LTS identified a gap in logistics services for high-grade ingredients—such as chemical sugars, milk powders, and spices—where traceability, audit-readiness and timely delivery are critical components of the supply chain. While supermarket logistics is somewhat saturated this strategic move allows LTS to offer specialised support to a growing niche.

“We fully understand the complexity of modern food supply chains,” added Dave Hands. “Our ability to flex and adapt our offering means we can deliver exactly what this sector needs: compliant, transparent, and cost-effective logistics.”

From global freight forwarding and customs clearance to BRC-accredited warehousing and UK-wide distribution, LTS delivers end-to-end supply chain solutions. Its international offices, including hubs in Hong Kong and India, position the business to manage complex global sourcing with precision.

Operating from a 131,780 sq. ft. Prologis site at Hams Hall, LTS provides controlled environments, batch traceability, and full HACCP compliance—helping food manufacturers meet quality assurance and recall readiness requirements.

“Our modern infrastructure and advanced controls mean we’re not just compliant—we’re future-ready,” said Dave Hands. “Achieving AA status required minimal adjustments thanks to our existing ISO, FORS, and DVSA Earned Recognition credentials. We’re already working toward our next goal: achieving an AA+ rating that reflects continuous audit readiness.”

Fortoak, one of the UK’s leading supplier of till rolls, labels, and packaging has gone from strength to strength in recent years.

With a strong market presence, the company has experienced significant growth through organic expansion and the acquisition of Pad Printers, a well-established manufacturer and supplier of restaurant pads and paper products across the UK and Ireland.

The Challenge

With Fortoak importing between 18 and 20 containers per month from the Far East, the company needed an efficient, end-to-end logistics solution to streamline its operations and to cater to increased growth.

The goal was to enhance operational efficiency, improve supply chain visibility, and ensure the seamless movement of goods from port to customer delivery.

The Solution

Fortoak partnered with LTS Global Solutions, a Birmingham-based supply chain specialist, to manage its logistics requirements.

LTS now oversees:

  • The landing, clearance, and transportation of all inbound containers.
  • Storage within LTS’ warehousing facility in Coleshill, Birmingham, including 1,169 pallet spaces and a designated pick and pack area.
  • Outbound logistics through a combination of LTS’ pallet network, TPN, and two dedicated Fortoak-branded trucks, along with multiple external final-mile partnerships.

The Results

Since partnering with LTS, Fortoak has achieved:

  • A market-leading 99.2% on-time, in-full (OTIF) delivery rate to over 1,000 active customers across sectors such as retail, hospitality, petrol forecourts, and merchant services.
  • A highly scalable logistics operation that supports future growth and expansion with minimal disruption.
  • Enhanced collaboration between Fortoak and LTS, facilitated by the co-location of 12 Fortoak staff within LTS’ facility at Hams Hall, Birmingham.
  • Alignment with Fortoak’s sustainability goals, as LTS’ facility was constructed with carbon neutrality in mind.

Comments From Key Stakeholders

Simon McCouaig, Managing Director of Fortoak commented:

“Over the past year, our growth has really shown just how important it is to have a reliable logistics partner – something we have luckily found in LTS. Their ability to scale with us has been pivotal in keeping us on track and ensuring we deliver exactly what our customers need, without stumbling at the first hurdle which is easily done.

Alex Vergopoulos, Fortoak’s Chairman, also added

“LTS manages the logistics and storage side of our business, and we manage the orders, take care of the pick and pack operation as well as the final-mile distribution. It’s a true partnership. Being able to work out of LTS’ impressive site is also hugely beneficial as it enables us to have a greater overview of our entire operation.

“From our shared commitment to sustainability to the way we operate, the synergy between our two companies is what makes our relationship run like clockwork. In many ways they have become a vital cog in our operation, and we are confident that they will continue to play a significant role in our expansion plans as we look to develop our operation organically and through further acquisition.”

Dave Hands, Managing Director of LTS Global Solutions also said:

“Flexibility is at the core of everything we do at LTS, and is a significant enabler in ensuring our clients and partners have complete confidence in our ability to provide the right tailored support they need to grow alongside us.

“Our relationship with Fortoak could perhaps be considered as slightly unconventional as they not only have space in our building, we are also their logistics partners as well as their customer as we purchase both labelling and packaging products from them. We literally work hand in hand, and it is a relationship which is paying dividends for both organisations.

“We are delighted to be a part of Fortoak’s continuing success story and look forward to continuing to support them on their growth journey.”

The Road Ahead

As Fortoak continues to grow both organically and through acquisitions, its relationship with LTS will remain integral to its success.

With a strong and scalable logistics foundation in place, Fortoak is well-positioned to achieve its ambitious expansion goals in the years to come.

LTS Global Solutions Hails New UK-India Trade Deal and Outlines How Businesses Can Benefit https://www.ltsglobalsolutions.com/blog/lts-global-solutions-hails-new-uk-india-trade-deal-and-outlines-how-businesses-can-benefit/ Tue, 27 May 2025 09:56:05 +0000 https://www.ltsglobalsolutions.com/?p=9690 International logistics experts LTS Global Solutions has advised how businesses can make the most out of the recent UK-India Free Trade Agreement which was finally reached earlier this month following three years of negotiations.

On May 6th, the world’s fifth and sixth largest economies came together in what was described as a ‘historic’ moment for the two nations – concluding on a landmark trade deal which is expected to increase bilateral trade by £25.5 billion and UK GDP by £4.8 billion per year in the long-term.

In 2024, total trade between the UK and India was worth £42.6 billion, with the UK exporting £17.1 billion in goods and services and importing £25.5 billion.

The free trade agreement contains cuts to tariffs which will make it easier for UK businesses to export to India and make imports from India cheaper for UK consumers.

Once the UK-India Free Trade Agreement comes into full effect, which is expected to take around a year, businesses on both sides are poised to benefit from significant tariff reductions and greater market access.

The agreement will eliminate tariffs on 99% of Indian exports to the UK and reduces tariffs on 90% of UK goods exported to India, with most becoming tariff-free within a decade.

This also includes significant cuts on automotive goods, with tariffs reduced from 100% to 10%. Sectors such as the footwear, apparel and textiles, along with food and drink, additionally stand to benefit.

Under the UK-India Free Trade Agreement, the UK will eliminate tariffs on 99% of Indian exports, including footwear, which currently face tariffs ranging from 4% to 16%.

This means Indian footwear imports into the UK are expected to become duty-free, benefiting both exporters and UK consumers.

Conversely, India will reduce tariffs on UK whisky and gin from the current 150% to 75% upon the agreement’s implementation, with a further reduction to 40% by the tenth year of the deal. These reductions aim to enhance market access for UK spirits in India, the world’s largest whisky market by volume.

The deal will also help British companies compete for more service contracts in India.

According to Mirza Baig at LTS Global Solutions, the landmark free trade agreement marks a significant milestone in the UK’s history, opening up new opportunities for businesses across a variety of sectors to expand and strengthen their presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing markets.

He also reminds firms that in order to seize the opportunities available, putting proactive steps in place to ensure a full understanding of the specific tariff reductions and implementing a robust cross border strategy will be critical in the months ahead.

Mirza commented: “Forecasts indicate that India’s GDP is projected to rise from $13.2 trillion in 2040 to $22.2 trillion in 2050, making it one of the world’s most dynamic and fastest-growing economies and as such the removal of tariff and non-tariff barriers under this agreement creates enormous potential for both UK and Indian firms which now have greater freedom to expand their customer bases while also making it easier for them to operate across borders.

“However, to capitalise on these tariffs firms need to prepare accordingly to ensure their goods can move swiftly and efficiently across borders once the agreement takes full effect. The key to unlocking the benefits of this deal lies not just in having great products or services, but in ensuring the right infrastructure is in place to deliver them reliably to customers across India. The same also applies to Indian companies looking to engage in trade with the UK.

“Reduced tariffs also create strategic opportunities for UK firms to reduce their dependence on any one region or country-specific supply chain and keep trade flowing in the event of more US tariff shocks, for instance, or any other socio-economic or geopolitical issues. The new trade deal essentially offers a route for firms to redesign supply chains by tapping into India’s manufacturing strength and growing consumer base, while also diversifying risk.”

The new trade deal comes at a poignant time for LTS Global Solutions which earlier this year opened a regional hub in New Delhi as a part of a wider international expansion strategy.

The company’s regional presence supports its operations across the subcontinent by working with a trusted network of partners. This setup enables LTS to provide seamless logistics and freight forwarding services for both existing and new customers, enabling the seamless movement of goods to or from India back to the UK.

As such, LTS will be well placed to leverage its established UK and Indian networks to provide end-to-end ocean, air, and overland supply-chain solutions with faster clearance and reduced barriers over the coming years, while also guiding businesses through new customs procedures and documentation requirements introduced under the FTA.

Mirza continued: “The UK and India share deep-rooted historical ties and the new UK-India Free Trade Agreement signals a new chapter in this relationship, one which opens up a myriad of opportunities to businesses situated in both nations.

“We’ve long identified the country as a key growth market which is why we’ve taken it upon ourselves to make the decision to invest into a regional hub that puts us in excellent stead to facilitate smoother cross-border operations for customers and build a localised network to help provide tailored logistics solutions for businesses on a global scale.

“Through having this network and infrastructure in place, it’s exciting that we have a real opportunity to help support businesses reap the rewards from this groundbreaking free trade agreement by streamlining the end-to-end logistics process and helping to navigate the changes in the most efficient way possible on their behalf.”

LTS Global Solutions Achieves DVSA Earned Recognition https://www.ltsglobalsolutions.com/blog/lts-global-solutions-achieves-dvsa-earned-recognition/ Tue, 20 May 2025 08:25:31 +0000 https://www.ltsglobalsolutions.com/?p=9644 LTS Global Solutions, a leading logistics, transport, and shipping company based in Coleshill, Birmingham, has been awarded the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Earned Recognition status.

A voluntary initiative that allows organisations to prove they meet stringent driver and vehicle standards, DVSA Earned Recognition showcases an operator’s commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Currently, there are only 131 listed transport operators across the UK within the DVSA scheme.

Launched in 2018, the scheme was designed to provide businesses with a more efficient way to demonstrate compliance with DVSA regulations. By reporting key operational data, operators can showcase their commitment to safety and best practices.

It also means that operators which have earned recognition are less likely to have vehicles stopped at the roadside or have DVSA staff visit their sites.

The criteria on which LTS was measured include maintenance, drivers’ hours compliance, and any fixed penalties or prosecutions incurred by the operator.

Attaining the accreditation follows a series of significant milestones for LTS Global Solutions, which has invested heavily in every aspect of its operation over the past 12 months.

In late 2024, LTS Global Solutions partnered with Aquarius IT to enhance their data collection, analytics, and reporting capabilities.

By implementing Aquarius IT’s suite of DVSA-accredited solutions, including ClockWatcher Elite for tachograph analysis, the digital Driver Walkaround Check, and the Asset Maintenance system for managing Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs), MOTs, and other critical records, LTS was able to streamline its compliance processes.

Rather than having a convoluted paper trail the system’s Document Management Portal allows the company to store all policy updates and procedures into one singular app, allowing it to manage all areas of driver and fleet compliance seamlessly.

Dave Hands, Managing Director of LTS Global Solutions commented: “Achieving DVSA Earned Recognition status for the first time is a tremendous accolade and we couldn’t be prouder to be joining such an exclusive group of transport operators as those listed on the DVSA scheme.

“By becoming accredited, we are now able to tangibly demonstrate our commitment to delivering exemplary standards, which furthermore allows us to give our customers and partners confidence that we operate to the highest level in ensuring safe and compliant transport services.”

The announcement follows a series of other achievements which includes gaining a BRCGS AA grade – again for the first time – for storage and distribution, securing

FORS Bronze and Silver accreditations, reflecting its dedication to best practices in safety, efficiency, and environmental protection within fleet operations. Re-certification of ISO 9001 which demonstrates their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

Dave Hands continued:  “These latest achievements also underpin the hard work and dedication of the LTS team as well as the value of our recent investment has made into the business – most notably in aligning ourselves with Aquarius IT, who have been instrumental in helping us streamline our compliance processes and enabling us to digitise and centralise key operational data.”

ENCOURAGING START FOR INCLUSIVE EDUCATION CAMPAIGN https://www.ltsglobalsolutions.com/blog/encouraging-start-for-inclusive-education-campaign/ Mon, 12 May 2025 09:18:35 +0000 https://www.ltsglobalsolutions.com/?p=9542 25% of fundraising target reached within days of launch

A groundbreaking campaign to transform secondary education for students with Down syndrome has already reached 25% of its £40,000 fundraising target – within just days of its official launch.

Led by Midlands-based logistics company LTS Global Solutions in partnership with national parent-led charity Down Syndrome UK (DSUK), the campaign aims to ensure secondary schools across the UK are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to create truly inclusive learning environments for students with Down syndrome.

The ambitious project will fund the development of a comprehensive Secondary Education Programme, designed to launch in September 2026. The programme will offer secondary schools accredited training, practical tools, and ongoing expert support in areas such as literacy, numeracy, communication, and social engagement—giving every student with Down syndrome the opportunity to reach their full potential.

The campaign is a personal mission for Managing Director Dave Hands and his wife Rachel, Head of HR and Communications at LTS who live in Rugby, Warwickshire. Their daughter, Ella, who has Down syndrome, is due to start secondary school in 2026. While her primary education has been overwhelmingly positive, the couple were shocked by the lack of understanding and support in many of the secondary schools they visited.

“On several visits, we were met with a look of fear,” said Dave. “We want Ella—and thousands of children like her—to have access to the same quality of mainstream education as their peers. This programme is about giving schools the tools and confidence to make that happen.”

Developed by Dr Becky Baxter, DSUK’s Director of Education and Speech and Language Therapy, the programme will support every member of school staff—from teachers to lunchtime supervisors—through an affordable subscription-based online portal featuring training modules, downloadable resources, and live expert sessions.

Rachel added: “Children with Down syndrome can thrive in mainstream education, but only if staff understand how to support them. This initiative will change lives.”

With early momentum building and a quarter of the target already raised, the team is calling on individuals, businesses, and communities to help bring this vision to life.

Nicola Enoch, Founder and CEO of Down Syndrome UK, said: “There are around 4,000 students with Down syndrome currently in UK secondary schools. With the right training, schools can make a lasting difference—not just to students’ education, but to their future opportunities in life.”

US Tariffs Likely to Reshape Global Trade for the Foreseeable Says LTS Global Solutions https://www.ltsglobalsolutions.com/blog/us-tariffs-likely-to-reshape-global-trade-for-the-foreseeable-says-lts-global-solutions/ Tue, 08 Apr 2025 09:45:57 +0000 https://www.ltsglobalsolutions.com/?p=9516 Logistics, transportation and shipping specialists LTS Global Solutions has advised UK firms to remain flexible ahead of President Donald Trump unveiling a 10% tariff on UK goods and a 20% levy on EU goods in a watershed moment for global trade.

Trump’s policy will establish a baseline 10% tariff on all imports from countries around the world, except for those from countries adhering to the USMCA free trade agreement between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Non-compliant goods will remain subject to a 25% tariff.

For businesses that actively engage with the US through exporting goods, imposed tariffs will likely mean a squeezing of profit margins, during a time where the economic outlook continues to remain uncertain.

To mitigate the dilemma of absorbing additional costs or passing them down the supply chain to customers, LTS Global Solutions suggests that companies may once again be forced to reevaluate their supply chains by exploring alternative sourcing options and considering relocating manufacturing operations to tariff-friendly regions to stay competitive in 2025 and beyond.

Since returning to the White House, he has introduced a 20% levy on all Chinese imports, imposed a 25% tariff on steel and aluminium imports, and pledged a 25% tariff on most imported cars and auto parts – all aimed at renegotiating trade deals with U.S. partners worldwide, emphasizing the need to “put America first on trade.”

Questions around what the repercussions of these tariffs will be still remain, most notably how countries will respond and how it will impact the global supply chain. China has already imposed a 15 percent border tax on imports of US coal and liquefied natural gas products, with Mexico and Canada also imposing levies of their own in retaliation.

On a global scale, the ripple effects of these tariffs are expected to be far-reaching, impacting everything from manufacturing costs to consumer prices.

Trump’s introduction of tariffs comes at a time where the global supply chain remains fragile, following a turbulent 2024 that saw widespread instability across major trade routes.

Mirza Baig, Global Business Director at LTS Global Solutions believes the addition of trade restrictions emphasises the need for UK businesses to remain agile and become more open to the idea of diversifying their presence away from tariffed regions if possible.

“Last year, supply chains were hit by a continuous cycle of geopolitical crises, namely the Russia-Ukraine War, ongoing conflict in the Middle East and repeated attacks on vessels by Houthi Rebels which passed through the Red Sea, Mirza said. While all of these issues continue to rumble on in some shape or form, President Trump’s tariff tirade will likely take the podium as the defining trade disruptor of 2025 and compound these pre-existing challenges.

“Undoubtedly the current pandemonium around the imposition of tariffs will result in short term market volatility, however it’s only once the dust settles that we can gauge the level of fallout from prolonged tariff disputes. If history is any indicator, these measures will likely prompt a further tit-for-tat retaliatory response from major trading partners on top of what has already been implemented, further disrupting global trade and as a result creating additional challenges for businesses reliant on international markets.

“Mitigating their impact over the coming year will be problematic for a lot of businesses. We have already had multiple discussions with customers concerning the possibility of evaluating their existing supply chains and identifying where adjustments can be made, whether that be establishing satellite manufacturing facilities in new regions to reduce dependency on heavily tariffed markets or diversifying into new markets.

For firms, navigating through this maelstrom successfully will depend on their ability to closely monitoring policy developments and remaining agile during this period.

Mirza continued: “It is likely that amid these tariffs being imposed, new trade deals will be struck between countries to offset the financial burden of the tariffs and create more stable and favourable conditions for cross-border trade and manufacturers by offering preferential terms. A recent example of this is that talks between India and the UK regarding a free trade deal is set to resume in a bid to overcome the impact of protectionist US policies almost a year after talks had come to a halt.

“While it’s unlikely that international markets will fully replace China as a global manufacturing hub, there is potential for a shift in supply chain patterns. Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent, with their lower labour costs and growing innovation, is actually a classic case study of a region becoming an attractive alternative for businesses seeking to diversify their manufacturing bases and mitigate tariff risks.

“Relocating parts or all of a business’s manufacturing process or breaking away from existing markets for instance is obviously an incredibly complex decision that requires careful planning and investment, but for many firms, it could be the most viable long-term solution assuming the tariffs will remain in place throughout Donald Trump’s Presidency.”

Driving Change: LTS Global Solutions’ Campaign for Inclusive Secondary Education https://www.ltsglobalsolutions.com/blog/driving-change-lts-global-solutions-campaign-for-inclusive-secondary-education/ Wed, 19 Mar 2025 09:37:32 +0000 https://www.ltsglobalsolutions.com/?p=9494 Midlands-based logistics, transport and shipping specialist LTS Global Solutions is spearheading a fundraising campaign to help secondary school students with Down syndrome receive the best possible education for a bright and successful future.

The company has partnered with national parent-led charity Down Syndrome UK to ensure secondary schools with students with Down syndrome are fully equipped with the right knowledge, skills and resources to provide the best possible setting for inclusive education.

Launching the campaign on World Down Syndrome Day (21st March 2025) LTS Global Solutions is seeking support to raise £40,000 to support the cause in readiness for a September 2026 launch.

The money will fund the development of a comprehensive Secondary Education Programme, equipping schools across the country with the right resources and expertise to help unlock the potential of every student with Down syndrome.

Managing Director Dave Hands and his wife Rachel, who is Head of HR and Communications at the Coleshill-based firm, were inspired to do something through their own experience in trying to find a secondary school for their 10-year-old daughter Ella, who has Down syndrome.

With a highly positive experience throughout her mainstream primary education the couple had naturally anticipated the secondary education offering would be on a par.

But having visited a selection of secondary schools ready for Ella’s transition in September 2026 the couple say on most visits they were met with a look of fear.

“We want Ella to be able to flourish and have the same quality of mainstream education as her older brother Connor,” said Dave. “And she is one of thousands who would be positively impacted by this UK-wide education programme.”

The programme will offer accredited training modules, resources and ongoing support in a wide range of subjects and areas including numeracy, literacy, communication and social engagement.

It will be devised by Dr Becky Baxter, DSUK’s Director of Education and Speech and Language Therapy, who has almost two decades of experience in working with children and young people with Down syndrome.  Last year DSUK launched an Early Years Development Programme and a Primary Education Programme which have proven successful.

Nationally, secondary schools have relatively little experience and expertise of supporting students with Down syndrome, so this pioneering comprehensive programme will have a significant impact and is aimed at every member of staff within schools, from teachers and teaching assistants to lunch time supervisors.

For a nominal annual subscription fee an online portal will provide practical insight and guides on working with students with Down syndrome. There will be accredited training modules, practical resources, downloadable information, as well as regular online drop-in sessions and seminars from experts.

Rachel added: “Children with Down syndrome have a range of needs which can prohibit their learning. If they are not properly engaged they can become disruptive. They cannot cope. But with the right support from teachers they can go on to achieve greatly. And this programme from Down Syndrome UK gives them the best chance to do so.”

Dave added: “We really want to give something back and by partnering with Down Syndrome UK on this initiative we can work towards ensuring quality education and support not only for children with Down syndrome but their teachers, families and indeed their future work colleagues.”

Nicola Enoch is the Founder and CEO of Down Syndrome UK.

She said: “The Down syndrome community is relatively small. With 800 babies born with Down syndrome each year there are about 4,000 in secondary education in the UK at any one time. With the right skills and knowledge in place schools can play a major part in helping pupils with Down syndrome thrive, giving them every opportunity to flourish in their education and in their future employment opportunities and potentially in independent living. With Dave, Rachel and the LTS Global Solutions team and supporters on board, secondary schools will have a much greater chance of helping their staff broaden their skills and to give every one of their students with Down syndrome the best secondary education.”

LTS GLOBAL SOLUTIONS SPONSORS THE BRITISH TRUCK RACING CHAMPIONSHIP https://www.ltsglobalsolutions.com/blog/lts-global-solutions-sponsors-the-british-truck-racing-championship/ Tue, 11 Mar 2025 14:21:19 +0000 https://www.ltsglobalsolutions.com/?p=9477 LTS Global Solutions has been named as the official transport partner for the 2025 season of The British Truck Racing Championship (BTRC).

As part of its partnership with the UK’s premier truck racing championship, LTS Global Solutions’ branding will be on display on all competing race trucks, podium backdrops, the official website, and various media channels.

With locations in Birmingham, Hong Kong and New Delhi, the company offers tailored solutions to meet diverse needs of its customers which includes storage, just in time delivery, fulfilment and international freight forwarding.

It is the first time that LTS has partnered with the British Truck Racing Championship.

As one of the biggest motorsport categories in the UK, The British Truck Racing Championship takes centre stage at some of the most renowned circuits across the UK such as Brands Hatch, Thruxton, and Donington Park.

Featuring five-tonne racing trucks that produce over 1,000 horsepower, the championship delivers high-octane action across 34 races spread over seven events.

Like LTS, sustainability is high on the agenda for the BTRC, with the Championship working closely with Truck Sport UK and the British Automobile Racing Club to develop strategies and actions that help ensure it meets their carbon reduction targets.

In 2024, the BTRC showcased its commitment by collaborating with Silvey Fleet and BWOC, who supplied Renewable Diesel (HVO) for race events. This fuel, produced from 100% renewable sources, achieves a net 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and is compatible with existing diesel engines.

In recent years, LTS has significantly reduced its carbon footprint through a major investment programme, focusing on sustainability across all aspects of the business, which led it to achieving Planet Market Certification last year.

It currently operates a Volvo FM Electric truck and was the first logistics provider in the West Midlands to do so.

Dave Hands, Managing Director of LTS Global Solutions commented: “We are both delighted and proud to be named the official transport partner for the 2025 British Truck Racing Championship season.

“Having always been employed in the logistics industry it’s very much ingrained in my DNA, so when the opportunity of aligning LTS Global Solutions with The British Truck Racing Championship, it was a no brainer. Championing the industry is something we feel incredibly passionate about, and this partnership provides no better way to showcase that passion.

“As an institution which is looking to actively seek out ways to reduce its carbon footprint and drive sustainability forward, it’s great to find a partner with values that perfectly aligns with our own, and we look forward to seeing how our expertise can help one another moving forward.”
